‘ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE’ Earns $51.8M and ‘The Little Mermaid’ Surpasses $250 Million –

‘SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE’ made $51.8M on its opening day at the domestic box office, the biggest opening day at the domestic box office in 2023 so far.

The Sony film surpassed Super Mario Bros.’s $31.7 million and Marvel Studios‘ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s $48.1 million.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has the third-best opening day of any Spider-Man film, trailing only behind ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ ($121.9M) and Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 3’ ($59.8M).

The opening day of ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ is also the third-highest for an animated film, trailing only Incredibles 2 ($71.2M) and Finding Dory ($54.7M). The sequel’s opening day is also the best for Sony Pictures Animation.

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ is expected to gross $125 million at the global box office in its first weekend.

What else is going on at the box office?

In just one week, the live-action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid’ has grossed $250 million worldwide, surpassing the global total of the 1989 original. The movie has officially made a profit on its $250 million budget.

‘The Boogeyman’ grossed $4.8 million on its first day and is expected to gross $15 million to $17 million this weekend. The film had a $35 million budget.
